Singing Teacher, Vocal Coach, and Acting the Song Coach
Rob Archibald
Head of Dept. of Performing Arts, Urdang Academy, London
“His ability to connect technique with text helped his students always create a truthful and engaging performance. It is rare to find a coach who can achieve this.”

AAbrams Studio
AAbrams Studio has been around for over 20 years. Andrew has worked on faculty as a voice, acting-through-song teacher, and musical director at several universities including New York University, New York Film Academy, Hofstra, Mountview, and Urdang Academy (London). He has taught privately in NYC and London, working with beginners through Broadway performers (including Tony Award Winners) and professional opera singers. Andrew is also an accomplished composer whose shows have played Off-Broadway and Off-West End.
What to Expect in a Lesson
In every lesson, Andrew warms students up for 5–10 minutes addressing vocal technique: low breathing and breath support, placement (twang and lifted soft palate), free laryngeal placement, and tension release (tongue, jaw, etc.). Lessons then focus on repertoire with applied technique.
As a vocal coach, MD/pianist, and acting-through-song coach, Andrew also works on musical accuracy, interpretation, foreign language diction, and acting the song: a true one-stop shop so students don't need multiple teachers to cover all their preparation goals.
Rebecca Green
Broadway Performer
“His understanding of how the voice works is paralleled only by his familiarity with the musical theater industry in terms of knowing how to work your type and integrating acting choices so they seem effortless.”

“Andy made me feel more confident in my singing by showing me techniques I had not been using before. He also helped me take my acting through singing to the next level, all while having a lot of fun in the process. I'm proud to say I got immediate acceptance at two of my top schools.”

“Before seeing Andy, I had no idea what to bring into a college audition room. Andy was able to efficiently find me audition material that ensured the auditors would see not only my personality, but the skills that were taught to me through his college audition prep lessons.”
Carol Gregory
“Andrew is an incredibly gifted teacher in not only vocals, but also performance, character, auditions, and the college audition process. His technical expertise is paired with a supportive, collaborative style that is positive and productive. She loves working with Andrew!”

“On a senior class trip we randomly ran into Andrew Abrams at a Broadway Workshop…. With Andy's guidance we were able to decide which schools to apply to in Canada, USA and even England…. By the time audition season arrived Andy had us completely prepared and we were successful in acceptances.”
