ANDREW ABRAMS
COMPOSER/MUSICAL DIRECTOR/
VOCAL COACH/VOICE OVER ARTIST/ACTOR

Rob Archibald
(Head of Singing–Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, London)
“His ability to connect technique with text helped his students always create a truthful and engaging performance. It is rare to find a coach who can achieve this.”

Rebecca Green
(Broadway Performer)
“His understanding of how the voice works is paralleled only by his familiarity with the musical theater industry in terms of knowing how
to work your type and integrating acting choices so they seem effortless.”

AAbrams Studio has been around for over 20 years. Andrew has worked on faculty as a voice, acting the song teacher, and musical director at several universities including New York University, New York Film Academy, Hofstra, Mountview, and Urdang Academy (London). He has taught privately in NYC and London, working with beginners through Broadway performers (including Tony Award Winners) and professional opera singers. Andrew is also an accomplished composer whose shows have played Off-Broadway and Off-West End.
In lessons, Andrew warms students up for 5–10 minutes addressing vocal technique: low breathing and breath support, placement (twang and lifted soft palate), free laryngeal placement, and tension release (tongue, jaw, etc.). Lessons then focus on repertoire with applied technique. As a vocal coach, MD/pianist, and acting-the-song coach, Andrew also offers work on musical accuracy, interpretation, foreign language diction, and acting the song — a true one-stop shop so students don't need multiple teachers to meet their preparation goals.
